Kick-Off for new project “iVAB”

February 24th, 2012 No comments

We started the “iVAB”-project (together with Fraunhofer IAO, Software Paradies GmbH, and pdv-systeme Sachsen GmbH, funded by BMWi), where various interactive, high quality rendering approaches are used for decisions on interior and fittings options. Among others, it uses a combination of path tracing and screen space post processing to overcome noise artefacts.

PlaSMoNa: Platform for the standardized combination of web 2.0 technologies, navigation and smart phones for social applications

Projekt PlasMoNa_Navigation

The working group Computer Graphics in the Institute of Visual Computing has a new research project: PlaSMoNa (platform for social mobile navigation).

The project team will research the combination of currently successful web 2.0 applications, especially the social networks, with satellite- and indoor-navigation.

Project partner is the tarent solutions GmbH in Bonn, funding is provided by the Federal Ministery of Economics and Technology (BMWI) within the socalled Central innovation programme for medium-sized businesses (ZIM).

The project PlaSMoNa deals with the analysis, design and the implementation of a platform for the development of event- and group-oriented mobile applications with indoor- navigation.

Possible applications based on this PlaSMoNa-platform are business applications for big conferences, special advertising or games for smartphones with navigation-aspects.

The aim is to bring together the users of social networks in a goal-oriented, localized and event-oriented way. PlaSMoNa will offer a great deal of flexibility and open interfaces for different social networks, navigation methods, types of events and smartphones. Based on the social networks, a convenient and standardized environment for the development of a whole variety of new application types will evolve.

The project duration will be two years.

EXAR project demonstrated

June 20th, 2011 No comments

Intermediate results of the EXAR project were demonstrated during the “Tag der Technik” in Düsseldorf on 17th and 18th June.

The setup involved a 3D TV, optical marker tracking, two real magnets and a PC. The users could watch the superposition of the two fields from magnets which they held in their hands.
